On November 26, 2025, Elo will release a new OS update for the Android 12 devices. This update includes feature enhancements and bug fixes that will improve the performance and usability of these devices. This update will be available for download on the EloView cloud portal as a dropdown OTA and will become the default OTA download on EloView and OEMConfig as of December 3, 2025. New features and enhancements:
- Added support to configure Wi-Fi Quick Access via Prestage, allowing users to access Wi-Fi settings from Quick Settings even when the device is offline.
- Resolved an issue where external Edge Connect webcams connected to the side USB port of I-Series 4.0 devices displayed incorrect orientation.
- The device's full report now includes connected peripheral configurations and PoE usage, showing active ports, power draw, and power source, aiding IT diagnostics.
- Added support for devices to show their power source (PoE or standard adapter) in EloView.
- Fixed an issue on M50C where scanner data became corrupted after upgrading from Android 10 to Android 12 due to excessive event reporting.
- Disabled backward compatibility for TLS 1.2 and restricted deprecated ciphers to enhance security standards and overall cryptographic security.
- Updated M60 boot behavior to enter Recovery when both side buttons are pressed and Fastboot when only the left button is pressed.
- The Emergency SOS option is now disabled on payment devices where this feature is not applicable.
- Added Prestage support to enable or disable screen auto rotation during provisioning.
- Added Prestage support to set a fixed screen orientation (0°, 90°, 180°, or 270°) during provisioning.
- Improved OTA eligibility logic to take into account the OS version cut in at the factory to ensure the correct system updates are delivered to each device.
- Removed manual EloView registration option from the device UI.
- Enhanced battery logging to include detailed charging history, battery usage per application, screen activity, and power trends to aid diagnostics and performance tuning.
- Added advanced control options for the NFC LED on 22" Pay devices, including always-on, automatic (triggered by NFC events), and manual SDK/API-controlled modes.
- Added full software support for Z20 Gen 2 stands, including cash drawer APIs, USB port controls, and peripheral detection for seamless integration.
- Added support for screen timeout configuration via EloView and EloViewHome SDK.
- Resolved an issue where certain kiosks failed to trust newly updated root certificates.
- Added new APIs to the EloView Home SDK that allow applications to programmatically connect or disconnect devices from EloView.
- Added an API and 3rd party MDM script to disable updates to Android System WebView via the Play Store or other sources.
As always, your devices will never prompt an update or auto-update. Once the update is available, devices can be updated from the EloView Portal or at the device level from the EloView Control Panel. Other MDM users can leverage Auto and Manual Update features of Elo OEMConfig to update the devices.
